So to beat the heat this weekend we met some friends up at Mt. Charleston for the first ever Mt. Charnival Celebration to welcome the first day of summer. It’s a good 20 degrees cooler up there than in “the valley” so being outside is actually allowed and encouraged really since it’s a nice national forest/ rec area. Mikey had his first experience with big animals, carnival games, nachos, jump houses,a horse ride and a sunburn!! Despite the cool breeze and comfortable temperature, we totally forgot the hat, sunblock and sun shades for our toddler!! You can bet we won’t be forgetting those again any time soon! We had a wonderful time and the horse and buggy ride was our favorite!
Mt. Charleston is the closest place to go in the winter to play in the snow and surprisingly there was still some snow on the mountain tops when we went up. We even checked out the little Holiday Shoppe that sold Christmas ornaments and realized it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas!
