My Big 4 Year Old

So Mikey had a pretty fun birthday this year.  We did go visit my parents for the week, but my pregnancy brain didn’t plan well enough for us to participate in the winter ice fishing festivus.  We were only 1 day late, but missed all the extended family and fun little cousins who joined us last year.  We did have a family party and homemade cake with Uncle Brian, Aunt Heather, Luis and Megan, and my parents.  Mikey got a Cars stool that my mom painted, a sticker maker, and a large piece world puzzle since he’s mastered the USA puzzle and some other stuff.

We had lots of snow during our trip and my boys loved playing in it.  Living in Vegas sure keeps us sheltered from the elements having to buy things like snow boots and snow pants.   My car actually got stuck and required towing, then the battery died which was scary since it’s a hybrid, but after staying an extra day and Grandma’s we made it safe to the other set of Grandparents.

Mikey got cupcakes, balloons, pizza, and a shopping spree with Grandma (with no little pestery brother or parents) when we got to their house.  We played with cousins and then headed home to Vegas to try and make it in time for 9am church the next day!

Mikey’s stats:

38.5 lbs and 39 inches tall

has started a foreign stamp and a state quarter collection

loves arts and crafts- especially cutting up my scrapbook paper with decorative scissors and using a glue stick to glue them together.  He then tapes his masterpieces to the walls of the house.  He spells out words with letter stickers to let you know who the pictures are for.

Is a Sunbeam in church and already given his 1st talk.  We printed out little pictures next to the words to help him remember what to say and he did great!  He only needed help to remember 1 word.

loves singing primary songs.  Here’s what he’s learned so far for the song to learn the  Books of the Old Testament.  I crack up when he says Equisi-nasties for Ecclesiastes.

fave cartoon: Super Why

fave food: grapes

fave color: green

fave movie: Dora

fave song: stuff on the piano

National Delurking Week

So if you’re reading this blog post please stop lurking and post a comment for me.  I need some love, really!  Today’s my birthday and I’m having a hard time with this getting older thing.  A 10 year reunion is fast approaching, I’m finding gray hairs all the time, and the only thing left for my kid to learn is to tie his own shoes then go on a date and get married!  So share some love and I promise I will share some back =o)  Thank you!

Mikey is 3 Years Old

The week before Mikey was born (a little over 3 years ago), my mom rolled her Explorer on the highway after she took her seat belt off to remove her jacket.  She spent the night in the hospital and had to tell me only 1/2 truths  (car problems) about why it was taking her so long to come down to see me so I wouldn’t go in to labor.

2 years ago, my Dad drove from Vegas (celebrating Mikey’s bday) back home only to get in a 4 wheeling accident (wearing no helmet) where he faced either running head on into an on coming vehicle or drive over the ledge and head down close to the icy river.  He chose the latter, rolled a few times,  broke some things, had a long ambulance ride to the hospital about 45 minutes away.

Last year we celebrated by ourselves for fear someone else would have bad luck with moving vehicles!

This year we opted to go see these “unlucky” grandparents and celebrate Mikey’s birthday up there, hoping and praying the weather would be good and we wouldn’t get in a wreck!

Couldn’t have been better conditions!  We had a reunion with some extended family, went ice fishing, sledding, 4 wheeling on the ice, had a party, and celebrated like crazy!

I’m afraid we can’t top this party even if we wanted to.  It was simple, with family, a Cars cake the Mikey really wanted Grandma to make, and just lots of fun with 2nd cousins he’s hardly known until now! Yay for family parties and Happy Birthday Mikey!

I’ve Got Sunshine

So Mikey got invited to his first birthday party, for 4 kids actually, and we had quite a cute little time.  Little kids love parks, so what better spot than the community park- complete with grassy area, 2 playgrounds, tables, and covered area.  We had some yummy food and the Elmo cake was quite an accomplishment.  Would you believe we got a little sunburned??  It’s February and we got sun!!  We are totally red on our arms and face.  I guess it’s time to seriously bust out the sunscreen and lather on the thick goopy stuff.

I always liked Banana Boat’s coconut scented sunscreen, but I haven’t bought that stuff in a long time!  So out with the sunscreen and away with the winter clothes!!  My kiddo has so many winter clothes so that will be nice to make room for more summer clothes.  Horray for nice weather.  Only a matter of time before a real Vegas summer hits us.
