Cell Phone Unloaded

I do not have a smart phone nor do I want one!  That’s fine for a few more months I think.  I take a pic with my cell phone, send a pic msg to my hubby who, then with the click of a button, can email me the pic.  For some reason the cord to connect my phone to the computer connects, but doesn’t pull anything off my cell phone.

I personally like my method of retrieving cell phone pics, but I think he’s getting a bit tired of it.  It would be nice to blog from to my phone, but I’m not ready to read emails, read blogs and facebook updates and surf the net any time I want.  I just don’t want to be that connected to my phone.  I might as well have it attached at the hip as another limb or something.

Well, here’s a bunch of pics that were taken with my camera over the longest time that are finally making it to the blog.  Oh, I can’t take pics with my phone anymore, because the memory is all used up and I need to delete pictures.  Nothing like motivation to get me into action!

Family Pictures 2010

I found a freaking awesome coupon to Picture People here!  First let me say that I love their tradmark white background and I’ve been going to them for pictures since my senior portraits like over 10 years ago, yikes that’s a whole decade!  9 portrait sheets for only $6.  So I went in thinking we’re only getting a few poses of the family!  Well it turns out they have a train prop!  My boys LOVE trains.  Hubby insisted we let them get a pic in the train.  And of course you can’t  get the boys’ pictures without getting the little girl’s pictures as well.  Hubby asked if we could combine the all ready good in-store deal with the coupon we had and they said YES!  They never say yes, but this time they did!

And I think the thing I’m most proud of (besides hubby combining store and coupon deals) is that I pulled our colorful, whimsical, festive attire together only 2 hours before the pics from things already in the closet!  The boys came home and had exactly 20 minutes to eat dinner, change their shirts, get hairs to lay down, and get out the door!

I just absolutely love the bright vibrant colors and that it’s not traditional Christmas-y looking.  So another year down of getting family pictures taken to give out with the Christmas cards. (I got a killer deal on those too!)

The process was really great!  We go in, wait like 5 min for the photographer to get ready, have fun during our shoot, then hang out for 5 minutes for them to upload to the computers.  We then viewed all the poses on a huge computer screen and could tell the person how to edit them (move us more to the center, zoom us in more or out).  The longest part was going through the images and picking out which ones to keep and picking out which sizes to give for family members.  It only took them 10 minutes to print out the portrait sheets which is even better than 1 hour photo!

We splurged a bit on a few pics, ended up joining the Portrait Club AGAIN, but had a really wonderful time going through the process.  So enough of the story behind it, here’s the pictures to prove it!

note: my blog (Word Rress) crops pictures into squares so some of these normally rectangle pics have heads and people cut out, grrr!  You get the idea though!

Summer Swim Time

We live by a really cool site in our new residence.  It looks just like a beach and has a shallow lake with beach chairs, life guards, and cabanas.  Every Tuesday this summer we would invite some friends over and head to the Lagoon for a few hours of swimming and then a picnic lunch.

Hannah did really well to just sleep in her carrier for the majority of our trips. Oh those were the days =o)

Mikey was so eager to head out to the deeper part (3 feet) that on one occasion he forgot to put on his life jacket and floaties and started bobbing up and down yelling for help!  Aunt Michelle (who was not planning on getting wet) quickly ran out to him and pulled him back to shore.  The lifeguards then took notice that something was wrong!   The next week Michelle had purchased Mikey a bright yellow Sponge Bob swimsuit that had built in floaties.  That suit is awesome!  He could go out to the deep end and stay head afloat with no help from me.   He also liked riding the paddle boats with Aunt Michelle and waving at us from the other side of the bridge.

Joshy was easy to keep track of.  He was the only kid NOT in the water.  He’d sit on the edge of the water and play with buckets and sand the whole time.  He hated having a life jacket on or the arm floaties.  About 2 trips before the Lagoon closed for the summer he finally gave swimming a try and loved it.  We got a little floaty boat thing that he could sit in and that’s what he really liked.  So he only got in the water 2 different times, but tanned like he was swimming everyday the entire summer!  He still has tan lines! Not sure how he got so lucky.

We’ll see how many times we’ll go next summer, since I’m sure 3 kiddos will want to swim at the same time and I’ll for sure loose track of them, but I’ll attempt just about anything once!

Labor Day 2010

Mike actually came with us this year to visit Gramps and Grams in Utah for Labor Day.  My mom was staying with us in Vegas so we squeezed like sardenes into the truck and made it safely to my parents’ house. We took it easy for the 3 day weekend and spent lots of time outdoors.  Mike even agreed to camp outside with boys in a tent!

The cute little tent we got for a wedding present finally got some use in the backyard.  We don’t have any sleeping bags or much else for camping equipment, but we are excited to have a tent! The boys bundled up with flannel pjs and thick blankets and of course some flashlights and experienced the real outdoors. I slept inside with the baby and the comforts of heat and toilet and all those great luxuries.  Coming inside at sunrise was a bit early for my liking, but apparently it was cold out there!

We took the family up in the mountains for a nice little bbq, hiking by the river, and roasting marshmallows.  The boys loved the simplicity of it all and couldn’t get enough of the smores!  They had never roasted marshmallows over a camp fire, so Grandpa initiated them!  It was a bit too sticky and messy for Josh, but he did his best to not get grossed out by the goo!

All in all it was a trip over all too soon for our liking, but very much enjoyed!

We’re Still Here!

Baby, then move, then have bad internet and a server down and blah blah blah… I’m back! We’re back and ready to start blogging again.

Hannah is becoming a little chunk!  She’s had a great day today!  She slept the whole time we went swimming at the Lagoon (community ctr) and has slept all afternoon too!  Last night she slept from 9pm to 5 am!  I’m enjoying those kind of days.  She’s starting to smile and she has dimples =o)

Josh is getting used to his role as the middle child.  He has a naughty and nice demeanor about him and you just hope he wakes up having a good day.  He loves giving Hannah kisses and says over and over “okay Hannah, it okay Hannah” when she’s crying.

Mikey is super helper to pick out a hair bow every morning and go get me a new oufit for Hannah when she’s had a bad blow out.  He likes to hold her too!

We’re adjusting to life with 3 kiddos.  I’ve only taken them 2 places by myself- CVS and Smith’s to do some much needed shopping.  I think I’ll wait a it longer before attempting that again =o)

Here’s Hannah!

We went in at 10am and everything went bam bam bam super quick!  We were actually allowed to go back early for surgery which really sped things up.  She was born Monday, June 7th at 11:30 something.  I didn’t even know they had taken her out, because she didn’t cry at all!  When I did finally hear her, she sounded like a cat!  Mikey sounded similar too when he came out!  She had to go to the NICU for a few hours the first day to help regulate her breathing.  At first she wasn’t breathing very deep and later she was breathing too fast.  She’s doing well now.  She was really calm yesterday and hardly fussed, but today she’s been poked in the heal, given the hearing test, been asleep but had to burp, and just not very happy.  She’s also gotten more hungry today!

We’re so excited for little Hannah, all her hair, and for Grandma taking the boys for a whole week up in St. George so we can get a grip on the new parenthood stuff.  Even though she’s #3 I feel like I’m starting all over from scratch when it comes to all this newborn stuff.  I could really use a nap and it’s only day 1!

Day at the Museum

So my ward has weekly playgroups and then monthly field trips for moms/ dads with little kiddos who aren’t in school.  We went to the Lied Children’s Discovery Museum and seriously could have stayed until closing and still had tons to do!  My boys loved it!  I met a friend who I haven’t seen since Jr. High and of course, we pick right back up where we left off and got caught up in the short amount of time.   This was definitely one place we will return to in the summer since there’s so much to do and see and for all ages!

Christmas 2009

Yeah, better late than never!  We went to St. George for the holiday and had a fun time.  Mikey was so excited come Christmas Eve that it took him forever to fall asleep.  I love the excitement of little kids as they start to understand the holidays.

We hung up a picture of some random person’s ultrasound from Google and placed in on the grand kid wall of fame!  We will have grand kid #13 for Mike’s parents which means they need to buy more picture frames, because our picture is frame-less.  They were pretty excited for the news on Christmas morning and then became concerned with our vehicle situation- my car only holds 2 car seats.  Not to worry, the truck can hold 3!

We had a fun time with cousins and family and tons of presents and excitement.  They boys set up a choo choo train to go around Grandma’s tree just like the one at our house.  Between trains and new toys, they stayed busy for quite some time!

My Big 4 Year Old

So Mikey had a pretty fun birthday this year.  We did go visit my parents for the week, but my pregnancy brain didn’t plan well enough for us to participate in the winter ice fishing festivus.  We were only 1 day late, but missed all the extended family and fun little cousins who joined us last year.  We did have a family party and homemade cake with Uncle Brian, Aunt Heather, Luis and Megan, and my parents.  Mikey got a Cars stool that my mom painted, a sticker maker, and a large piece world puzzle since he’s mastered the USA puzzle and some other stuff.

We had lots of snow during our trip and my boys loved playing in it.  Living in Vegas sure keeps us sheltered from the elements having to buy things like snow boots and snow pants.   My car actually got stuck and required towing, then the battery died which was scary since it’s a hybrid, but after staying an extra day and Grandma’s we made it safe to the other set of Grandparents.

Mikey got cupcakes, balloons, pizza, and a shopping spree with Grandma (with no little pestery brother or parents) when we got to their house.  We played with cousins and then headed home to Vegas to try and make it in time for 9am church the next day!

Mikey’s stats:

38.5 lbs and 39 inches tall

has started a foreign stamp and a state quarter collection

loves arts and crafts- especially cutting up my scrapbook paper with decorative scissors and using a glue stick to glue them together.  He then tapes his masterpieces to the walls of the house.  He spells out words with letter stickers to let you know who the pictures are for.

Is a Sunbeam in church and already given his 1st talk.  We printed out little pictures next to the words to help him remember what to say and he did great!  He only needed help to remember 1 word.

loves singing primary songs.  Here’s what he’s learned so far for the song to learn the  Books of the Old Testament.  I crack up when he says Equisi-nasties for Ecclesiastes.

fave cartoon: Super Why

fave food: grapes

fave color: green

Josh Turns 2

My parents came down this past weekend to celebrate Josh’s and my younger brother Brian’s birthdays.  My mom loves making the boys their bday cakes which is so nice for me.  I just provide supplies.

So Josh got a dinosaur cake, big bday hat, helium balloons, a dinosaur stool hand painted by my mom, a ride on turtle, play kitchen, fishing puzzle, foam ABC puzzle, kite, garden rake, and lots of attention from everyone this weekend.  For being the 2nd child he sure made out well in the toy dept.

More pics coming soon!
