To Decorate or Not to Decorate. That is the Question

Mikey has anxiously been waiting for the day when we could finally bring down the Christmas train from the high shelves in the garage.  Mike teased him the other day by getting the train down, having Mikey eat all of his dinner and then said, “Okay Mikey, time to go to bed!”  Oh if you could have seen those eyes!  I think they were comparable to this priceless expression!

Well of course we let Mikey get out the Christmas train rather than go to bed early and we set it all up and listened to it for oh probably an hour.  We set up the Christmas tree too, so the train wouldn’t look out of place.  Well Mikey’s got his train and I’ve got the tree set up and now I’m debating if I even really want to set up all the decorations and ornaments on the tree.  Don’t think we’re in need of anything if you come over and visit and our tree and train look a little meager this year.  I assure you that there’s a lot more where all that stuff came from- meaning the garage.  We’re talking 4 large totes full of Kris Kringly cheer and decor.  If I don’t get it out, then I won’t have to put it away in like 2 weeks.

  1. Cute family picture. And the one of you holding your boys, I love it. Is that really that little baby? He looks like a little man in those pictures. I know how you feel about the whole pulling out just to put away. Why is time flying so fast now that we’re older?

  2. I told you before, and I stand by it, you’ve got to decorate. It’s just part of Christmas. Have Mikey help you and he’ll love it! I get more joy out of seeing the kids decorating the tree and being excited by our decorations! For them it is pure joy. Would you deprive Mikey of that? 🙂
I’m sure he’ll help you clean stuff up, too.

  3. I love to decorate for Christmas, so I cannot offer an unbiased opinion. It’s definitely a bummer to take them down, but decorating for me is a very important tradition. It’s not Christmas for me without that part. We like to play Christmas music while we decorate the house and the tree. I love Christmas trains myself, I have been on the lookout for one. Ty hasn’t liked the ones I’ve found so far. He likes those model trains.
    Good Luck!

  4. That is a very sad face! Decor, my darling, is like ketchup on meatloaf or alfredo on pasta…yeah you can eat the things without it, but who really wants to? 😉

  5. I have to disagree with the people who say put up all your decorations. I didn’t put hardly anything. I know if I do the stuff will just get broken by the little elf living in my house. Also, the first Christmas was a simple, humble one and I’d like to keep that spirit of Christmas in my home. Merry Christmas!
