I just found a new site in Vegas that has lots of activities and events listed to do in and around Vegas! What I’m really excited about is their 12 Days of Christmas give aways they have going on right now! They aren’t just giving away 1 thing each day, they are giving away many things! Go check it out to see what’s the current giveaway!
We’re visiting St. George this weekend and always love attending a different ward. Even after a terrible night of kids waking, hubby with allergies, hardly able to get some real sleep we somehow managed to crawl out of the house and get to church! I really honestly still wonder how or why that happened. I’m notorious for ditching church any Sunday we aren’t attending our home ward!
The boys wore their matching purple ties and were completely surprised to see that Grandpa Cox also had a purple tie! They got quite a few compliments!
Mikey insisted we go back to the primary room after church so he could pick up his shield!
Well, apparently the presidency made enough shields for each primary kid so here’s Mikey sporting his new favorite dress up attire! Don’t you love when people go above and beyond the call of duty to serve? I guess I needed a little lesson to make sure I’m always putting in 100% and doing all I can!
Mine was nice, relaxing, carefree, and with family. Does it get any better? And my kids pretty much did what they wanted without any reservation! Whatever makes us happy, right? Here’s Josh’s choice of after church attire:
I love the one sock on and one sock off!
The boys made me homemade Mother’s Day cards and Josh was so excited to tell me about his. “It says I Love Daddy!” he proudly proclaimed! We couldn’t help but to laugh. Mikey drew me a nice big rainbow using ROYGBV (he recently learned that to help him remember the rainbow color order) and he gave me a learn and grow kid kit from Lowe’s that’s a flower container. The boys and daddy used their new real tools in small kid sizes to hammer in the nails and assemble the really cute flower container. Then they painted it every shade on top of the previous so it slightly resembles grey and black, but it’s cute and made with love!
As They Grow Kid’s Consignment Event is going on this weekend! Huge Kid’s Sale today, Saturday, and Sunday. Mention “Creations by Emily” (my mom’s craft booth) and get in FREE! 2251 N. Rainbow (Close to Best of the West) next to Office Max. We got boy dress up clothes, Melissa and Doug toys, board books, baby food maker, and tons of clothes! You’ll love it! I might go back for the huge tote of Geo Trax if it’s still there!
You can pay with credit cards or cash. It’s very organized just like a department store (sections for: boys, girls, toys, furniture, books, movies, shoes, etc). It is kid and stroller friendly and they even set up a mother’s lounge! LOVE THIS EVENT!
http://astheygrowlv.com/ for more info! You won’t want to miss it. Great way to buy for the upcoming months in bigger sizes for your little tykes!
I do not have a smart phone nor do I want one! That’s fine for a few more months I think. I take a pic with my cell phone, send a pic msg to my hubby who, then with the click of a button, can email me the pic. For some reason the cord to connect my phone to the computer connects, but doesn’t pull anything off my cell phone.
I personally like my method of retrieving cell phone pics, but I think he’s getting a bit tired of it. It would be nice to blog from to my phone, but I’m not ready to read emails, read blogs and facebook updates and surf the net any time I want. I just don’t want to be that connected to my phone. I might as well have it attached at the hip as another limb or something.
Well, here’s a bunch of pics that were taken with my camera over the longest time that are finally making it to the blog. Oh, I can’t take pics with my phone anymore, because the memory is all used up and I need to delete pictures. Nothing like motivation to get me into action!
food storage for 40 people for 1 year. Only 30 thousand DOLLARS!
I’ve gotten good with the cereal, but no where near a year supply for us OR 40 of our closest friends and neighbors!
I am going to make your calling easier! Well, Trina is actually! You’ve got to get this book if you’re in a presidency or if you’re a RS teacher. Trust me! I was called to be a teacher (that’s a whole story for another day) and my mother-in-law said I had to get this book, because another sis-in-law used it to teach last year and just loved it. So I get it, use it, love it, and then my other sis-in-law gets called to be a teacher and calls me to find out “what’s this book all about I’m supposed to get?’ Look out other sis-in-law who isn’t a RS teacher… yet!
Make sure to get volume 2, because those are the 2011 lessons and they are incredible! There are great ideas to use as object lessons (many per lesson so you can choose) and Ensign articles related to the lesson and handouts to copy for each sister. I could go on and on, but what I really have come to like is Trina herself!
She signed my book! At my house! Ahhhhh! It’s almost like the “I’m debt free” scream, but maybe not quite as intense, maybe a little more high pitched squealy like. She is so nice! I wonder if she coupons? I’ve got to find that out! She came over to pick up a ham radio and take our turtle off our hands (thank you!) and she’s so fun to chat with. I still had pjs on and she totally didn’t care. Don’t you love people like that? I did some research. Well I clicked on the find out more about me link on her blog, and she was young mom of the year in CA. So she totally knows about pajamas-still-on-at-noon days! It was only 10am actually, but you get the idea!
So pajamas on all day or not, you’ve got to get this book!
Need to get rid of your kid/baby clothes, toys, games, furniture, books, sports equipment, and everything else related to baby? Stroller, carrier, bumbo, boppy, diaper bag, hair bows?
As They Grow is a city wide consignment event that lets you do just that. You pick your price, tag your clothes, drop it off to them at the location, and they put them on racks and sell them! It’s truly brilliant the way they set up and run everything. It will be in mid March this year and really crept up fast!
I didn’t sell anything last year, but went to buy clothes and made such a killing for all 3 of my kiddos. I saved so much money and bought lots of cool toys and books to give as Christmas presents to my kiddos.
If you don’t want to sell, that’s okay too! Just go and buy and enjoy the great deals!
Maybe I’ll see you there! Last year I ran into like 3 people from my previous ward. I am totally going to beat them to the 5t-6 sized clothes to get my kid a nice Sunday suit! You know who you are! *wink*
There is another consignment event tentatively scheduled for July put on by another local group. They are still trying to track down a location. From what I hear, As They Grow is much more organized and just plain better for what ever that’s worth!
No, this post has nothing to do with the cashier at the grocery store!
I’ve been catching up on blog reading and must say I love it! I’m still not ready to get that thingy on the side of my blog that puts the most recently updated blog on the top, but maybe I should look into that (have hubby do that for me), because I’ve been reading for 2 hours already! Sheesh!
Mike and I were the speakers in church today. Are Mormons the only ones who have their congregation members give the sermon each week? That probably would be weird, but kind of nice for a person-not-of-our-faith to experience. I’m glad I won’t have to do that for a few more months at least! I read my favorite faith promoting story about THE FILE ROOM and talked a bit about food storage. I love those things!
On Sat. I’m hosting a Grocery Smarts class to teach people how to use a free website to help them buy groceries at the lowest price possible! I love this kind of stuff. And I’ve had a few people already RSVP which really settles my nerves as to whether people will show up or not. Why would you not show up? You learn how to shop smarter and save money!
My mom is making the boys matching St. Patty’s Day ties and Hannah will have a matching St. Patty’s Day dress made from the same material. I’m excited that she’s excited to do those kind of projects, because I’m just so not in the mood. I did however finally finish the rag quilt I’ve been working on for 3 years! It’s washed and delivered to my sis-in-law with a note stating: Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas for the rest of your life! So glad that big ole pile is out of my closet.
Oh, got diapers B1G1 Free yesterday at Walgreens! Can I even write a post, have a regular conversation, speak to a stranger without mentioning shopping and getting a good deal? I’ll get back to you on that question once I finish my shopping trip =o)
We need to do our taxes still! Pretty sure we’ll owe money, since we prefer to have money collect interest in our bank acct every year rather than someone else’s, but maybe just maybe this will be the year we get a nice hefty check from jolly ole Uncle Sam! I’m pretty sure I’m dreaming, but it’s a good dream at least.
I need to collect moving boxes this week. There’s a chance we will be moving an entire house full of furniture/ belongings out this weekend and it falls on us to do it. We are not moving, someone else already has and left everything behind. Packing up someone else’s treasures actually sounds like fun to me except that we can’t have any of their stuff. So basically we’re the free packers and movers. We should be really good at this by now!
Hannah Bear is scooting. Not crawling or pushing up off her stomach, but sitting (you have to sit her up) and stretching out and somehow moving across the room. She really is such a good baby. I’ve decided that babies at 7 and 8 months are finally wonderful and exciting and worth keeping. Oh, she can sleep through the night too! That’s totally worth mentioning, because the other 2 kiddos were closer to 18 months before we finally saw eye to eye on the whole sleeping at night issue. She’s done it all by herself. And she only sleeps in her carrier. I mention this, because I’m sure there’s some new mom in blogger land who’s fretting over her child never seeing the slats of a real crib. This one’s for you dear fretting mother! My kid sleeps in a carrier and not a crib either and I’m going to keep on doing it until she’s too big or I really see signs of flat head and require a baby helmet to shape it back to normal. She seems fine to me!
Mikey has informed us what he wants for Christmas already! The kid just had a birthday last month, but I guess when you become aware of holidays and months and stuff then you start planning early for the next big present receiving celebration! He has covered our entire house in art work from preschool, primary, and his own original creations. It was bothering me, but now I just embrace this arts and crafts movement and proudly display his creations. Well, actually he is well versed in tape dispensing so he tapes his work where ever he wants! And he somehow knows if I’ve removed piece 217 from his ongoing collection spanning in the six hundreds, so I’ve just given up. They are pretty cute and I’m sure it won’t last forever so if you’re ever visiting our museum, make sure to check out the train tracks that span all over the house and view the art work, hung appropriately at a preschoolers eye level!
Josh supposedly has asthma and now has a nebulizer and does a breathing treatment every morning and night. He’s fine in front of the tv, but starts hacking up almost phlegm as soon as he takes off to see who rang the door bell, who moved his train, or what Mikey is doing to tease him from the other room. We’re trying to get a grasp on things, but it’s hard! You want your kid to be active, but when they cough till they hurt from doing so, and the only thing that keeps them calm is being stagnant, then you start to wonder and worry. He’s started defying nap time and I have unfortunately caved in and agreed. Must do better this week…
Well there’s some little amusing tidbits from our life this week. That reminds me that I need pineapple since I’m down to 2 cans and the whole talk of produce prices rising 50-90% in the upcoming weeks has me nervous.
