Hannah’s Baby Shower
This is long over due, but I had to get it on the blog.
About 3 weeks before I was due I finally gave in to having a baby shower for little Miss Hannah. I had only bought her a pair of hot orange sandals on clearance and a cute little outfit that had xox printed all over it (I love x’s and o’s!) and had been stocking up on diapers at a good deal for months. The grandmas had been excited for a new little granddaughter so I figured I’d let them fill in the gaps.
Well, my ward family came through and granted my wish- we said I was in need of headbands and hair bows! I’ll let the pics show the proof that this little girl now has quite a collection. We didn’t play games, just sit around and chit chat. I’ve come to know and love each one of these sisters and luckily I still keep in touch with a bunch of them from my former ward since we have kiddos and freezer meal groups together. And we got quite a nice collection of girlie clothes, blankets, bath stuff, and toys. I forgot about all the other stuff a baby needs besides diapers!!
Thanks so much for all the wonderful girlie items! We’re loving them.

Hannah’s 2 Month Stats
Talk about growing like a weed! We went to the doc for a 2 month appt and here’s her stats:
height: 22.5″ (50th percentile)
weight: 12.4 lbs (75th percentile)
head circumference: 37 cm (10th percentile)
she’s starting to smile and goo and girgle. She’s started spitting up a bunch too which is wierd. She’s a really good sleeper at night- goes down about 10 and gets up at 5:30am to poop and eat and goes back to bed until 9am! We’re slowly getting on a little schedule as far as naps. She likes car rides, sleeps the whole time in her carrier while we go swimming each week, and has been to the mall already in the stroller! She’s so much fun!

We’re Still Here!
Baby, then move, then have bad internet and a server down and blah blah blah… I’m back! We’re back and ready to start blogging again.
Hannah is becoming a little chunk! She’s had a great day today! She slept the whole time we went swimming at the Lagoon (community ctr) and has slept all afternoon too! Last night she slept from 9pm to 5 am! I’m enjoying those kind of days. She’s starting to smile and she has dimples =o)
Josh is getting used to his role as the middle child. He has a naughty and nice demeanor about him and you just hope he wakes up having a good day. He loves giving Hannah kisses and says over and over “okay Hannah, it okay Hannah” when she’s crying.
Mikey is super helper to pick out a hair bow every morning and go get me a new oufit for Hannah when she’s had a bad blow out. He likes to hold her too!
We’re adjusting to life with 3 kiddos. I’ve only taken them 2 places by myself- CVS and Smith’s to do some much needed shopping. I think I’ll wait a it longer before attempting that again =o)

Mum vs. Dad
Mum and Dad were watching TV when Mum said, “I’m tired, and it’s getting late. I think I’ll go to bed.”
She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day’s lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning. She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the excursion and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her bag. Mum then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.
Dad called out, “I thought you were going to bed.”
“I’m on my way,” she said. She put some water into the dog’s dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.
She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework. In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.
About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. “I’m going to bed.” And he did … without another thought.
Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer…?

Here’s Hannah!
We went in at 10am and everything went bam bam bam super quick! We were actually allowed to go back early for surgery which really sped things up. She was born Monday, June 7th at 11:30 something. I didn’t even know they had taken her out, because she didn’t cry at all! When I did finally hear her, she sounded like a cat! Mikey sounded similar too when he came out! She had to go to the NICU for a few hours the first day to help regulate her breathing. At first she wasn’t breathing very deep and later she was breathing too fast. She’s doing well now. She was really calm yesterday and hardly fussed, but today she’s been poked in the heal, given the hearing test, been asleep but had to burp, and just not very happy. She’s also gotten more hungry today!
We’re so excited for little Hannah, all her hair, and for Grandma taking the boys for a whole week up in St. George so we can get a grip on the new parenthood stuff. Even though she’s #3 I feel like I’m starting all over from scratch when it comes to all this newborn stuff. I could really use a nap and it’s only day 1!

Freecycle Finds
Yesterday I got a food dehydrator still in the box, in great shape, with the manuals and today we’re picking up a gas BBQ grill. Have I convinced you yet that Freecycle is completely awesome and worth joining? Think Craigslist, but everything is FREE!
Previous freecycle finds: 3 bookshelves for the garage, tons and tons and tons of kids’ clothes, a train table with rolling storage drawers underneath, pots and pans, moving boxes, and a ton of other stuff we’ve been able to get rid of by passing it on to someone else.
I’ve been Freecycling for a few years now and love it! And it helps that hubby has a truck so we can pick up the bigger stuff, but a truck isn’t necessary.

Life According to Mikey
We were driving tonight and the sun kept glaring in Mikey’s eyes which was making him upset.
Mikey: I want to pray to Heavenly Father that he will make the sun stop shining in Nevada.
Me: Ok, tonight at dinner with Grandma you can ask for that.
Mikey: No. I want to pray now. Dear Heavenly Father, PLEASE MAKE THE SUN STOP SHINING IN NEVADA! Amen.
Mikey: Mom, the sun is still shining. He didn’t make it stop.
Me: Well sometimes what we want isn’t what Heavenly Father wants for us. So maybe he wants you to wear sunglasses from now on when you get in the car and it’s going to be sunny outside.
Mikey: Oh, I don’t want to wear sunglasses.
(Tonight while getting ready for bed)
Mikey: I should get 4 blankets, because I’m 4 and Josh should only get 2. You should get 28 blankets mom and daddy should have 29. How old is Grandma N?
Me: I don’t know. I think like 48 or 49 maybe.
Mikey: Well you should know. She is your mommy!

My 1st Bow!
Isn’t it beautiful? I’m so excited for myself.
Last night I spontaneously went to a girls’ movie night and had such an enjoyable time. (We claimed we were prepping ourselves for the midnight showing of Eclipse that’s coming up next month). One of my friends was multitasking by making hairbows so she taught me how to make this one. It was easy!! I think I have a new addiction. I came home at midnight and scoured through my craft room in search of polyester material, but couldn’t find any. And I need to buy alligator clips still too! It’s probably a good thing I don’t have the supplies to make more, but you better believe I’ll be jumping on the bow making band wagon soon!

There’s Still Nice People
I had such a wonderful morning today, like something out of the Pay it Forward movie that I just had to share.
We were in and out of our freezer meal swap in no time today so I headed to the bank and then to the CVS right across the street to stock up on bottled water. There was a limit of 2 cases, but the cashier let me buy as many as I wanted. GrocerySmarts must have a typo, because $2.22 for a case of water is the 2nd lowest price I’ve ever seen for bottled water, so I’m stocking my sis-in-law and our family up for the summer! Despite the 8 months prego belly, I was on a mission to get me some water at a great price!
So I go to check out and this lady says she’ll help me to my car. I know I know, beware of strangers! And then this man says he’ll help me too! Long story short, he wheels my cart to my car, the lady makes sure I’m okay and he loads the cases into my trunk. I tried to tip him the only bill I had and he wouldn’t take it! I couldn’t believe it- that people were willing to help me and that they wouldn’t take $$ for their help. I’m still in shock and I know this little incident is pretty insignificant to most, but to me it was an incredible act of service that reminds me that there still are nice people around. Lately I’ve had a doom and gloom we’re all on our own attitude, so this was just what I needed to get myself back in check. And you better believe I’ll be paying it forward. Here’s to hoping you are having a really great day too!
I’ve even done a ton of dishes and cleaned the guest bathroom today! And so far no nap for me- I’ve got energy and a ton to do before moving/ delivery day, which ever comes first!
